I sometimes see listings for "CD-i 9000", but these look identical to the CD-i 550 to me. I was wondering, are there any tangible differences?

Hey,
Sorry for the late answer. The CD-i 9000 is the Magnavox, owned by Philips for the US market. It is the same model as the 550. The American market was habituated to Magnavox instead of Philips brand, easier to sell.
