The CD-izi Authoring Tool section is under the supervision of CD-i Fan (creator of the well-known CD-i Emulator).
This is maybe the most ambitious Open-Source Project of all time for CD-i… The most important of all…
If we manage to accomplish this, we will be able to bring new programmers to develop new homebrew CD-i titles!
What are we talking about?
We have launched an Open-Source development for a new Authoring Tool for CD-i titles called CD-izi to be compatible with Windows 7/8/10.
The objective is to make using it as simple as possible for any interested developer, even without programming experience.
With a philosophy somewhat like CD-i Fan’s never released “CD-i Base” project, we want to make it work like pre-programmed blocks ready to be joined into a program.
After release, the software will be free for everyone who participated in the project, and later on after a full functional verification, it will be free for everyone.
This project will be divided in 3 parts:
1. Define all that CD-izi will need to have.
2. Program the software for PC.
3. Program the software for CD-i
All parts will always be open, it will always be possible to add new options. If the programming has already started, you can still give ideas for new features.
To participate on this project, use the Official Forum Section and leave there all your ideas and thoughts. You can also send e-mails for a more private contact.
This page will be updated with all the new contributions that we think CD-izi will need.
– Windows 7/8/10 compatible.
– Ready assets (drag & drop).
– Much easier than Balboa libraries.
– No professional CD-i player needed.
– Easy layout and intuitive functions.
– Output directly testable on a CD-i emulator (no disc burning needed).
– Updatable software (no new download required).
The World of CD-i team offers all sort of support for programmers who want to jump into a homebrew adventure on CD-i, like Image Editing, Sound & Game Music creation, Programming Support, Authoring Tools, Title Testing under numerous CD-i players (bug hunter).
