The World of CD-i

Reborn Community

Dedicated websites only got news once or twice a year and forums were really calm.
That was what people who were searching for news faced.

Times are changing, that is why for more than 10 years Facebook Groups (FBG) was chosen by all kinds of people (CD-i lovers or just curious).
I can absolutely confirm that the pioneer of this way of spread the good word came from Alan with his Philips CD-i Zone (now sadly closed since early 2019). This is absolutely insane when you know this guy don’t like Facebook and don’t have any opened account…!

It’s good to see activity again in our Community!
It’s good to see how our return woke up people and gave them more strength!
It’s good to see healthy concurrency!
It’s good to see people talking about CD-i again!

Everything is good? Of course it isn’t. We have to be careful, sometimes the will to do everything at once can brings you back again to the same point before.
The Compact Disc Interactive is indeed a dead system, no way to deny this fact. Nothing we can do will bring him back to life again like in the 90’s. We are not talking about a Sony PlayStation 3 or 4 with tons of websites trying to rule the world of information. We are just talking about CD-i, yes, CD-i this amazing system that nobody understood how powerful it was for its time… We are talking about only a few websites you can count in one hand, and maybe more FBG than websites…

So, It’s good to see concurrency, but with respect and truth.
Like someone told me some weeks ago, time make things change.
I am still hoping this can happen.

In the name of all the people who are behind me and without who it would not be possible to bring this website back to life. Enjoy this website and any other places that talks about your beloved system!

Litil Divil™ 2

The unreleased titles is a very interesting subject. While we was “out” of the scene and preparing our return, we made a lot of research. From this research came Gremlin Interactive (bought by Infogrames). This is a long way after an interview we’ll publish this year. This leads us to an unreleased CD-i title, Litil Divil™ 2.

You can find Phil Plunkett’s artwork here.

More Unreleased CD-i titles…

Continuing in the YouTube videos under the CD-i Unreleased titles, here is a very good overview of several titles.
This is from YouTuber Jenovi who made some researches from several places, including The BlackMoon Project and Interactive Dreams.
In this video he speaks about the following titles:
The Apprentice 2; Battle Chess; The Lost Vikings; Breaker; Scramble; Dead End; Discworld; Microcosm; Space Ranger; Super Mario Wacky Worlds; Mario Takes America; Urban Murderfiles – Episode 2 New Jersey and Voyeur™ 2.

Discworld on CD-i fully playable

This information comes directly from our Facebook Group member Roberth Rivero who posts this news about a YouTuber called Manmonkee. Manmonkee talks about Discworld game, under various formats, including CD-i:

A YouTuber called Manmonkee dropped a bomb of a comment a month ago revealing something truly unexpected…It seems that Atari approached Perfect 10 Productions/Teeny Weeny Games (where Manmonkee worked) in order to port Discworld to the Jaguar CD, which never moved foward beyond the discussional phase via phone. Damn, we lost a good one…But you may be wondering what does this has to do with the CD-i? Well here’s the real kicker: Manmonkee confirmed to me that the CD-i version of Discworld was not only finished but fully playable as well. So there you have it CD-i fans, you lost a good title as well 🙁

I am glad to see that our return has shaken the community!

Here is Manmonkee’s YouTube video:

Interactivity has returned!

This is a great pleasure for us to finally welcome you to Your CD-i website!
After 12 years, we are proud to bring The World of CD-i back.
This place will give you all the information you need to know about our beloved ahead of its time interactive player.
Title information, all genres included such as game, educational, multimedia, music, video, photo-cd, cd+graphics, and more!
Also a lot of material will be available like screenshots, videos, cover scans, downloads, tips & tricks, tutorials and more!
This is the place that should never have been gone!

We want to thank all the active Interactive Community that still kept working hard to stay up, especially The Black Moon Project with his Forum, CD-i Philips Zone FB page (now gone), Interactive Dreams, ICDIA, CD-i Emulator, and other Facebook Groups. This shows how big our Community is!

The World of CD-i doesn’t want to take the place of anyone, we only want to be another website to contribute to the Community, allowing each one of you to participate in its growing.

This website gives you the opportunity to add missing information on titles and add new material, directly through an editor page. It will then be revised by our team and, after validation, your information will be available and your name will also be added on the credits tab. This is interactivity!

To get full access of the website please don’t forget to register!

Some of the parts of this website are still being worked on. If you find anything that does not work or you think is inconveniant, please let us know using our contacts or our community forum.
Also many titles are still being added, as screenshots, videos, etc…

Enjoy just like we enjoyed bringing it back!
