Description Here are two classic games in a new version, “Guardian” and “Invaders”.
This disc is the first in a series of Golden Oldies collections.
After starting the disc the main menu will show up allowing you to select either “Guardian”, “Invaders” or “Exit”.Guardian:
You have to defend a planet full of humanoids from an alien invasion. You control a small fighter armed with a laser and smart bombs. Fly across thescrolling surface of the planet and take out the aliens. Some of these aliens will abduct the humanoids and carry them to the top of the screen where humanoids and aliens will tranform into a horrible mutant that will come after your ship. Other aliens just bother you, there are mine layers, hunters, tanks and others. Clear one wave of enemies and you will progress to the next level. There are seven levels in total. If all the men are killed, the planet will be desintegrate, leaving you in outer space with nothing but raving mutants for company…
After selecting “Guardian” in the main menu, you will get the “Guardian” menu. This will play some music and show you the hightscores every once in a while. Use the “Exit” button to return to the Golden Oldies 1 main menu, use “Start” button to start the game.
At the top of the screen is a radar showing the positions of enemies and humanoids. When a humanoid is abducted, a warning will sound and you can look on the radar where the trouble is taking place. The middle of the screen is the play area, the action takes place here. At the bottom of the screen is the score panel showing you from the left to the right, the score, the number of lives and the number of smart bombs you still have.
Fly the ship by pushing the controller left or right. Turn around by slowing down completely and then move a bit more in that direction. Move the chip up or down with the controller. Action button one fire the laser, and action button two fires smart bombs. A smart bomb will kill everything on the screen, use it when you’re in trouble and have three mutants and a couple of hunters after you.
There is a kimited supply of smart bombs though, so use them wisely. You get extra smart bombs and lives every 10000 points. When you are hit by anything, you die and loose a life. You get three lives in the begginning, and when you lost your last life, the game will be over, and the “game over” screen will be displayed. After pressing na action button, you will be able to enter your name if you get a highscore. Move the box around with the controller and press na action button to select a letter.
Make sure you don’t shot the humanoids, it’s your task to defend them. Also, don’t spend too long on a level or you will get deadly hunters after you.
Clear a level of all aliens and you will go to the next. A bónus will be awarded for each surviving humanoid. There are seven levels in total, and if you complete level seven, you will keep playing that level until you run out of lives.Invader:
This is a classic. Move the ship left and right with the controller and fire a missile with action button 1. Shoot all invaders and you will go to the next level.
If you bet hit by a bomb, you die. If you loose all your lives, or the invaders hit the ground, the game is over. Extra lives are awarded each 2000 points.
